WWW Wednesday: 11 March 2020

Hey everyone! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for WWW Wednesday.

Just as a reminder WWW Wednesday is a meme sponsored by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. To take part, you just have to answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you will read next?

Currently Reading

  • Final Girls by Riley Sager (audiobook) – It’s Riley Sager, enough said. I’m already hooked!
  • The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune (ARC) – I’m getting so many Umbrella Academy vibes from this one, and I am here for it!
  • Magic Unleashed (Venators #1) by Devri Walls – I’m several chapters in, and I’m already so intrigued. I want to know why the relationship between fraternal twins Rune and Ryker has shifted. Additionally, I’m hoping for some romance between Rune and Grey!

Recently Finished Reading

  • Into the Black Nowhere (UNSUB #2) by Meg Gardiner (audiobook) – 4 stars. I gave UNSUB five stars. While I still very much enjoyed this one, it definitely wasn’t as gritty and dark as UNSUB since book one was more focused on the killer versus Caitlin. This book delves deeper into who is Caitlin Hendrix. I particularly loved watching Caitlin and Rainey’s work relationship and friendship develop.
  • The Winter Duke by Claire Eliza Bartlett (ARC) – 4 stars. Claire Eliza Bartlett just writes really good fantasy books. The world building is always spot on, and a huge nod to the queer romance that was completely conventional. Here is my review.
  • The Deep by Alma Katsu – 3 stars. This was an imaginative retelling of the Titanic tragedy where ghosts were involved. While the story is incredibly atmospheric and factual, I wanted (needed) more spookiness for this to truly be a horror. Here is my review.
  • Darling Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel (ARC) – 4 stars. OMFG. What is the hell did I read?! I read this book in one sitting, and I am still wondering what I read. Review to come.
  • The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James (audiobook) – 4.5 stars. Atmospheric? Check! Creepy ghosts? Check! Murder mystery? Check! What a fantastic book. Review to come.
  • Oona out of Order by Margarita Montimore (ALC) – 4 stars. This book was 13 Going on 30, with so much more feels and life experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Review to come.

  1. Wow, so many books! I loved Final Girls and really enjoyed Venators 🙂 I’m really keen to try Oona out of Order. have heard some really good things about it! Darling Rose Gold also has my interest piqued. It sounds completely messed up. Hope you enjoy your current/future reads. Happy reading!

  2. I’ve had Final Girls on my TBR for an age and I really need to pick it up asap! Also was a bit wary of reading the Deep because I thought it might be a bit scary, and I’m a wimp 🙈, but if you didn’t think it was I might just have to give it a go.
