I was recently selected as a #PiqueAmbassador for Blood Countess by @lanalyte (thank you @piquebeyond), which is one of my most anticipated reads for 2020!⁣ ⁣ I’ve been obsessed with the story of Count Dracula for as long as I can remember, and the true stories of Countess Elizabeth Báthory that gave rise to Count Dracula are absolutely legendary. ⁣ ⁣ Synopsis:⁣ A historical YA horror novel based on the infamous real-life inspiration for Countess Dracula.⁣ ⁣ In 17th century Hungary, Anna Darvulia has just begun working as a scullery maid for the young and glamorous Countess Elizabeth Báthory. When Elizabeth takes a liking to Anna, she’s vaulted to the dream role of chambermaid, a far cry from the filthy servants’ quarters below. She receives wages generous enough to provide for her family, and the Countess begins to groom Anna as her friend and confidante. It’s not long before Anna falls completely under the Countess’s spell—and the Countess takes full advantage. Isolated from her former friends, family, and fiancé, Anna realizes she’s not a friend but a prisoner of the increasingly cruel Elizabeth. Then come the murders, and Anna knows it’s only a matter of time before the Blood Countess turns on her, too.⁣ ⁣ 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎!⁣ ⁣ ❄️ 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠? ❄️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #BloodCountess #LadySlayersSeries #ABRAMSkids #PiqueBeyond #YAHorror #horror #dracula #youngadult #yalit #bookwineandmetime #bionicbookbabes #bookmail #comingsoon #anticipatedbooks #mustread #historicalfiction #qotd #needtoread #tbr #bookbloggers #bookbloggerlife

𝓟𝓾𝓫 𝓓𝓪𝔂 𝓑𝓸𝓸𝓴 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀⁣ ⁣ Happy pub day to 𝘔𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘔𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘦 by @ninapolitan (thank you @gallerybooks & @netgalley for my copy!) ⁣ ⁣ Ten year olds best friends Charlotte and Henry try to run away together after they learn that Charlotte’s mom is trying to take her away from Hope Lake. Unfortunately, they are eventually found. Charlotte is forced to move to NYC with her mother leaving behind her father, grandmother (Gigi), and Henry in her wake. The trauma of leaving combined with her mother’s lies forces Charlotte to repress her memories of Hope Lake.⁣ ⁣ 21 years later, Charlotte finds herself fired and blacklisted thanks to a misunderstanding. She can’t afford NYC, so she reluctantly decides to temporarily move back to Hope Lake just until she can find her feet again.⁣ ⁣ Due to the nature of Charlotte’s repressed memories, this is a slow-burn romance that really doesn’t reveal itself until later in the book. The story mainly focuses on Charlotte immersing herself into the town of Hope Lake and reacquainting herself with the area as well as her Gigi and father. There were definitely times that I felt incredibly sorry for Charlotte because it was evident the effect that her mom’s lies had on her even into adulthood. There were also times that I was frustrated with her situation as well. I did love how the community came together to accept her and support her and not judge her for the past.⁣ ⁣ Overall, this is a truly heartwarming story that is more than a second chance romance. 𝘔𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘔𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘦 is a reminder that we can always return home even in the darkest of times.⁣ ⁣ Rating: 4/5 ⭐️’s⁣ ⁣ Christmas booksleeve: @novelnuzzler! 𝓑𝓸𝓸𝓴 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀⁣ ⁣ I recently finished 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘷𝘪𝘭 by @aliceblanchard.author and absolutely savored every minute of this book! ⁣ ⁣ Burning Lake is a small tourist town nestled in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York that has a haunting past. In 1712, three women were executed under the suspicion of witchcraft. Burning Lake became known for witchcraft attracting hoards of tourists as well as becoming a rite of passage for teen girls.⁣ ⁣ Natalie Lockhart has returned to Burning Lake and is now a detective in the Burning Lake Police Department; the same unit that her father faithfully served for decades. When Natalie was younger, her oldest sister Willow was brutally murdered (stabbed 27 times) when she was eighteen years old. On the 20th anniversary of Willow’s death, Natalie discovers the slain body of Daisy Buckner, the best friend of her sister Grace. As a rookie on the detective squad, she was already tasked with the investigation of nine cold cases. Now Natalie has to determine if Daisy’s case is connected to the cold cases or if another murderer is at large.⁣ ⁣ From start to finish, 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘷𝘪𝘭 is a gripping page-turner that is wrought with chilling suspense. I loved how the witchcraft theme was interwoven throughout the plot but it never overpowered the story or felt cheap. All of the characters were compelling and well-defined with Natalie being my favorite (none of that broken alcoholic female detective trope here). While this police procedural does not have the fast-paced speed that some readers expect with thrillers, the plot maintains a steady course with twists and turns up to the very last pages. I can’t wait to see what’s in store in Natalie’s next chapter.⁣ ⁣ Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️’s⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠(𝙨) 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙?⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #TraceofEvil #AliceBlanchard #MinotaurBooks #murdermystery #thriller #policeprocedural #bookwineandmetime #bionicbookbabes #booksharks #lovetoread #reader #witchcraft #suspense #mustread #goodreads #bookblogger #mystery #bookreviewer #readingchemistreviews

𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 & 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓⁣ ⁣ Today I’m on tour with @suzyapprovedbooktours for 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘌𝘯𝘥𝘴 by @rochwein (thank you @getredpr for my gifted copy!) ⁣ ⁣ 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘌𝘯𝘥𝘴 was my first foray into Rochelle Weinstein’s writing and it most certainly will not be my last. This story was heartbreakingly beautiful that left me in a puddle of tears.⁣ ⁣ Charley and Philip should be enjoying the highs of their engagement, but with Philip’s constant absence due to work travel. In Philip’s absence, Charley begins spending time with Ben, a widowed father. Charley begins to question if she wants a life with an absent husband or if she needs more.⁣ ⁣ Now, you may be thinking that this is just another love triangle/affair type of story. I’ll be honest, I did. But, my god, it’s not. The characters were incredible. The story evokes so many emotions, and there were certain parts where I had to put the book down just to cry. This book is so incredibly raw and honest, and makes you question everything you think you know about relationships and people’s motives. ⁣ ⁣ Available now for Amazon Prime members!
