It’s Tuesday, which means new books!⁣ ⁣ So this is a bit of a late post for me, but I’ve been busy devouring Cut and Run by @abwrites, which released today! ⁣ ⁣ Huge thank you to my friends over @minotaur_books for my gifted copy! ⁣ ⁣ If you love murder mysteries and police procedurals then you definitely need this book! It’s fast paced and is keeping me on my toes! ⁣ ⁣ Synopsis:⁣ ⁣ FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid is dead-set on solving a cold case—even if the original investigators stonewall her every step of the way. A violent storm has uncovered the remains of a family that authorities assumed fled the country years ago to avoid prosecution. But the body of the youngest Albright son never turned up. And if y’all know Laura, she has maybe 10 five star reads a year (and she reads 200+ books a year). ⁣ ⁣ Now I am even more excited to read this space book! ⁣ ⁣ Head to the comments to check out the awesome synopsis! Today I am on tour with @suzyapprovedbooktours to tell you about A Child Lost by @michellecoxwrites.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Calling all historical fiction and mystery fans! A Child Lost is the fifth installment of the Henrietta and Inspector Howard series but don’t let that deter you because it can be enjoyed as a standalone!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Henrietta is going through severe depression as she copes with a recent miscarriage. Clive (Inspector Howard) is at his wit’s end trying to help. He ultimately decides that the best thing for Henrietta is to feel needed by immersing herself in a new case. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Rather than once case, Henrietta and Clive quickly find themselves embroiled in two very different cases which ends up leading to a combination involving: a psychic, an asylum, and a lost child. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There were lots of twists and turns in the investigations, which kept me wanting to know more. I loved both Henrietta and Elsie as they refused to be anything but willful and strong during a time (1930s Chicago) that wasn’t always kind to women. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Additionally, the author does a fantastic job of tackling a myriad of social issues such as depression, miscarriage, and domestic abuse in a way that is both respectful yet insightful. There were definitely parts that were challenging to read, so I just want to warn anyone of possible triggers. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Rating: 4/5 ⭐️’s⁣ (Coming April 28th!)⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My coworkers and I held a virtual happy hour yesterday, and it was so fun to see everyone and just catch up during this crazy time. ♥️⁣⁣
Happy Thursday everyone! ⁣ ⁣ Is anyone else having a hard time focusing on every. single. thing. 🙄⁣ ⁣ Thank you to @dccomics & @mbc_books #partner for my gifted copy of Gotham High by @authormelissadelacruz. ⁣ ⁣ This was a much needed distraction when my current concentration level is at a max of ten seconds. ⁣ ⁣ Following his expulsion at a prestigious all-boy prep school, 17 year old Bruce Wayne finds himself at Gotham High. Along the way, he finds himself friending some old favorites like Harvey Dent and Ivy, but some new faces make their way onto the scene. ⁣ ⁣ Following the kidnapping of Harvey Dent, Bruce realizes that something sinister is going down at Gotham High, and he needs to get to the bottom of it. ⁣ ⁣ This graphic novel retelling of Batman was so refreshing. I love that there’s so many diverse characters including Bruce Wayne who is half Chinese and his uncle Alfred who is gay. The plot was fast paced and entertaining. The plot twist wasn’t too surprising but it was a lot of fun. ⁣ ⁣ I can’t wait to see what the Gotham High Kids are up to next!⁣ ⁣ Rating: 4/5 ⭐️’s (coming April 7th!) ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 📖 How’s your reading going this month? 📖⁣ ⁣ Mine started off great, but now I’m struggling to focus on everything 😭
